I'm not entirely happy with the way this one came out. Part of it is that I'm not 100% behind Kendrick's current outfit (he is the silent one in the red and gold). Each Gun-Lord has his own personal style (at least the major ones do). And I wanted to go with a 1950s retro Flash Gordon style for Kendrick, but something is missing.

Comments:

It's his lower region, it looks like leotards. I would give him some hip and leg armor as well.

I think you're right about the armor.

Although the original concept I had didn't have that much of an armored nature. . . . Here are a few reference images that indicate what I was originally going for :

It would be nice to find some hybrid design that keeps the feel of my original vision, but also gives a more armored look. I'll have to see what I can come up with. . . .

I love Flash Gordon. I saw the 1980 one in theatres as a boy with Sam J. Jones and soundtrack by Queen and thought it was amazing.
I think if you just made his pants black that would "anchor" the look of his ensemble better and add variation, black is a visually heavier color than red, and none of your examples have matching pants and shirt colors. The uniform color doesn't work as well.
You could still add armor padding to the leg region to make it look meatier, but perhaps make it look like its sewn in to indicate a faster, lighter weight armor, like the leather armor that a rogue or thief wears for instance.

All excellent points!

Your advice is very much appreciated, and also very accurate. :-)

Although, the current situation makes me think that a bit more time needs to be taken with the design of things. I think I'll take this weekend off from posting new pages, in order to look over the various design options, and hopefully get something I really like. I'm definitely going to take your advice on the pants, those do need to be a different color, and black would be a good option for that. The leg armor is also a great idea.

I'll work on it today, and see what I can come up with.

You had better! We are paying a lot of money to read this comic!
Oh, wait-a-minute, it is free to read, like mine.
Never mind me then. Lol

First, let me say that is incredible work with your comic (I should have assumed you had one and checked earlier).

Regarding your comment : you may not be paying me, but I very much appreciate your interest in my comic, and that you take the time to comment.

So I feel bad about letting down those of you who take the time to read my comic.

Anyway, I did a bunch of 2D sketches of various outfits for Kendrick today. And then some 3D modeling for the character. I'm still not entirely happy, but it feels like I'm making progress.

Looking better. Now I just think that his shoulder flares, for lack of a word to describe them, need rounded edges like before and should be a color that contrasts with the red, maybe white?

I'll look into that. Although, I did change the design of the shoulder parts (it just may not be fully obvious from that image, which is not all that great of a view of Kendrick). The new version of the shoulder areas was somewhat inspired by a costume that Adam Warlock used to wear ( https://geek-prime.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/adam-warlock-character-1024x724.png ).

As always, I very much appreciate your feedback on this stuff, so if you really hate the Warlock shoulder things, let me know. . . .
